Kware Resources

How can you help Kware?

Here you can find details of what is needed in Kware and what you can do to help, whatever you give, time, money, prayers, all is of great value and your help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

SCHOOL
At the end of 2003, the £60,000 mortgage on the school land was paid off in full, incurring no interest charges!

An anonymous donation of £30,000 has been received (spring 2006) giving sufficient money to now start the foundations of the 1000 pupil primary school!   (Total project build is approximately £250,000 - as of 2002)

As of July 2006 the following is needed:

* A brick costs - £5

(The bricks are really blocks & are approx 6 times the size of a UK house brick. The £5 includes the sand, cement on each brick)
* Mason one day - £8
* Casual one day - £4
* Building Consultancy - £20
* A Lorry of stones - £100
* A lorry of 12 tons sand - £120
* A lorry of ballast - £200
* A bag of cement - £6

To install electricity will cost us £800.
Storage tank £600
Water £1000 as the source is far from us.
Sewage construction £800.

The main problem at the moment is transport as petrol prices have increased.  Please pray for the supply or loan of a second hand lorry which would save a large amount of money.

Would you be able to start a 'Buy a Brick Campaign' at your local school / work?

You can donate funds online here or send a cheque payable to 'St Thomas' Handshake to Kware' sent to St Thomas' Church Fair Oak.

HOSPITAL
Right now, £43,000 is needed to dig the foundations and lay the concrete slab before any building work can commence.  Due to the soil type and conditions, this work must be completed in one go.  No further work can start on the hospital until all of this money is available.  (costs approximate in 2002)

Regular Donations

Please consider giving a regular amount to Kware each month.  It is essential that monthly costs are met and your contribution is crucial.  Monthly rent for the current Health Centre, salaries, medical and teaching supplies all need to be paid for.  This is approximately £2,500 pm (as at October 2002). In addition to this, the monthly mortgage payments of approximately £800 pm for the newly acquired school land also need to be met. Consider:

  •  50p will feed 5 children a meal.  £6 a month will pay for 2 children to be fed a bowl of porridge every day, this may be the only food that child receives that day.

  •  £60 will vaccinate a child against the top 5 killer diseases

  •  £80 - £200 per month will pay a teachers salary

Standing order forms are available from St Thomas' Church Office, Fair Oak.  Alternatively, you can print one off here and post it back to the office.

Your PC  will need adobe acrobat reader to access the standing order and gift aid form.

Whatever you can give will change lives.  Thank you

Gift Aid Scheme
The gift aid scheme has been set up by the Government to enable registered charities to claim tax back on charitable donations. To participate in this scheme, it is simply a case of signing a gift aid form declaring you would like the tax you have already paid to be claimed back and given to the nominated charity. These forms can be obtained form St Thomas' church office, Fair Oak.  Alternatively, you can print one off here and post it back to the office.

Limited Companies are able to claim tax relief on charitable donations when calculating their profits for corporation tax. Partnerships and sole traders are treated as individuals and should claim tax relief in their own name

'St Thomas Handshake to Kware' can benefit greatly through your participation in this scheme, receiving 28% more !!!!  If you are being sponsored for an event, make sure your sponsor forms have details of the gift aid scheme on them.  For further advice email:

Inkjet Cartridges
DON'T BIN IT - SAVE A LIFE WITH IT  - One used ink cartridge can pay for a child to have a typhoid injection.

Companies will pay for used cartridges to be handed in so they can be re-cycled. Hundreds of pounds have already been raised for Kware by people donating their old cartridges. If you can help please leave them at the back of St Thomas' Church, Fair Oak or post them to an address on the contacts page.

Fund Raising
Providing a future for the children of Kware is our focus.  Continuing fundraising efforts will enable the new hospital and school to be built.  Fundraising events happen throughout the year, from table top sales to professional events such as 'Stars in Their Eyes' and Charity Balls.

Keep an eye on the 'Kware Events for your diary' section of this site with details of future events.  Please  support us in whatever way you can, either by attending or by lending a hand.  If you have a heart for Kware and would like to help either regularly, or for a particular event, please contact St Thomas' Church, Fair Oak.

If you are organising a Fund Raising Event and would like it advertised on the site, please contact: admin@handshaktokware.com Thank you

KWARE FILM
To assist you with your fundraising event, why not show the Kware Film -  this short (15min) film provides an ideal introduction to the work of our charity.  In 2002 we produced a professional film about Kware - all those involved in the production of the film gave us their services free of charge, otherwise it would of cost us thousands to produce such a superb film.
If you would like to order your co
py, please contact St Thomas' Church office.  Prices are £7.99 for a video or £12.99 for DVD plus £1.50 postage and packing in the UK.  All profits from the video and DVD  go direct to Kware.
